My Closet Shoe Mat

diy closet shoe mat

I am so excited to show you this new project that I came up with for my closet. In my closet system, there is a shelf that I use as a shoe rack. It was a great idea but this shelf is not smooth and flat, it had rods, therefore, my heels fall in between. My solution is these closet shoe mats.  This is how I made them. First, what you need is a placemat that is waterproof, with a design you love. I bought mine from Dollarama this weekend for $1.50 each. Depending on your shelve or floor space, you may need two to four.

Instructions on how to make my closet shoe mat:

This is the front

This is the back

Make sure it is a soft plastic and waterproof

Next, you are going to need Modular Carpet Tiles that are self-adhesive.

This package I bought happens to have three titles in it.

Place the place mat face down and the carpet tile also faces down in the middle.

Peel the back only to the length that you need.

It will look like this.

Now fold the placemat side over the back of the carpet tile and smooth it down.

Cut the remaining paper that is not being used.

Repeat the same process onto the other side.

This the back of the finishing project

Now all you have to do is place it in your closet

And place your shoes of course
