IKEA HACK: Simple LACK Side Table Change

 Ikea hack lack side table

You know you did a good job when someone says “Did you buy a new side table?” I actually didn’t. I bought two IKEA Lack side tables a long time ago on sale while we were living in a townhouse. Because it was on sale, there wasn’t must color choices to choose from. Literally, it was a mix match colors mess (light blue and bright red… not my thing!) but I was happy to have the side tables at the time.

Since my room no longer fits those side tables, I decided to place the in the living room than the bench (oops.. guess I spilled the beans about tomorrow’s post) came along, one LACK table broke and then I was down to the last red Lack table.

I could not stand looking this side table anymore, it was filled with blue and pink color dried on paint on, scratches and marks. It was looking completely worn out. Plus, with the makeover of the apartment. It didn’t match the decor anymore. So I decided to spray paint it a color that matched our decor… navy blue.

Here is the before picture:

I made sure to scrub off all the dried on paint as well as any dirt or grim that the kids left on it so that it would not affect my spray painting.

I bought a plastic drop sheet from Dollarama for a $1.25. This was the first time I decided to use it. I like that it covers a lot more space on my balcony so that I don’t have to worry about accidently getting paint on the balcony railing or floor. This is an upgrade from the cardboard boxes I have been using. This one works great even if it rained and it did that day.

I almost forgot to tell you, I used Krylon 53523 Oxford Blue ‘Satin Touch’ Decorator Spray Paint – 12 oz. Aerosol (True Blue the gloss version). After making sure, I sprayed everywhere. I let it dry for about an hour or so, and then it was all ready to go inside.

Such a huge difference! Don’t you think? Much better than the red.
