Top Bunk Bed Cozy

You can call it a bunk bed bumper or a bunk bed cozy. Both works for me. My little sister complained about the sides of the bunk bed so her idea was to have a ton of pillows all around her bed. It was old pillows that we no longer had use for anyways so it was fine. I couldn’t think of anything at the time so it would have to do for the time being.

The time was now and finally the idea sparked into my head on how this was going to transform. With my new sewing skills and idea in head I was ready to tackle this bunk bed cozy (bunk bed bumper) for this Top Bunk Makeover.

This is the before pictures of the bed itself. The pillows towering on the sides with different color pillow cases wasn’t doing it for me. A little secret about my sister is that lately she hasn’t wanted to sleep in her bed so a makeover was necessary to give live back into her bed and really give this space a over all transformation.

To start making this bed cozy or bumper you are first going to need a four pillow cases.
Take one pillow case and fold it in half.
Cut it the pillow case in half.
Put the pillow case inside out and pin the area that you want to sew the cut side close.
Sew the section you pinned down with your sewing machine or by hand.

Now is when you will need a old pillow. You know that ones that look dirty because of a few spills or discoloring that appeared and doesn’t ever seem to go away no matter how many times you wash it. Or the pillows that have become way to flat for your liking will work perfect for this.

Cut the pillow in half.
I had no idea how tough it was to cut these pillows in half. I was thinking it was like cutting paper but it ending up feeling like I was cutting really thick cardboard.
Slide the pillow into the pillowcase.
You can add ribbon to the pillow to tie it to the rail or you can lean it on the side.
Looks much better.
