Copper Tray Makeover

copper tray makeover

Do you know that ‘I have to have it‘ feeling? That is what I said about this copper tray that I found at Value Village when I was on my trip. At first, I wasn’t going to get it in the hope, that I would find something better later but as I got near the cashier, I just had that feeling that I had to have it. It cost $5.99! I knew I wasn’t going to find something like this at the price anywhere else. So I bought it!

Copper Tray Makeover

To give this tray a fantastic makeover and a cleaner look that matched my place’s style, I needed to prep it for spray paint. I bought painter’s tape from Dollarama for around $2.00 and placed it at the bottom of the tray because I wanted to keep it protected since I was keeping the bottom of the tray the same.

Once the preparation was complete, it was time to use my favourite go-to paint…spray paint! For this project, I will be using Krylon 51511 Silver Interior and Exterior Decorator Paint – 11 oz. Aerosol. It cost me around $5.00 at Canadian Tire, but I also had an old can from a past project that I used.

After I gave it a coat of paint on both the inside and outside of the tray and gave it an hour wait to dry, it was ready to be added to the decor family inside.

I knew as soon as I saw this tray that I wanted it to be on top of the new shoe organizer and I was completely right on this idea. It looks amazing!

The Reveal

A simple, beautiful tray project that makes a great difference.

  1. Hi Shanice what a pretty name and it looks pretty written out. How'd you like to be stuck with Jane? Ugh. Have never been crazy about my name. Anyway, loving your tray. I'm a tray nut anyway but yours is really different and the silver made it even better, good choice. I have couple of containers with same patterns on sides, think will get them out, see what kind of vignette can conjure up. You have inspired me to use them again. They're out in shed so afraid they'll be really dirty but I'm not afraid of dirt. Might need to give them a quick coat of spray paint after I wash them good. Enjoy your gorgeous tray. Happy week

    1. Thank you, Jane. I don't think your name is too bad. At least you don't need to correct people on how to say your name lol I am happy that I could inspire you to take your containers out of the shed. I am sure with a good wash and little spray paint, you will have fab containers!

  2. Shanice, Love what you did with the tray! Isn't it wonderful what one can do with a can of spray paint? I sometimes think of the the years I discarded or got rid of things that I would have kept if it were a different color. Thank you for sharing your project with us at Brag About It! Have a great weekend!
