Think about how you first started dating and try to use some of these elements to create a perfect evening. It may be a bit tricky if you didn’t go down the traditional dating route, but you can still make it romantic by using the things you know and love. If you had your first date in a specific restaurant or cafe, it should be quite easy to set the scene.

If not, you can make the same meal you cooked together the first time – or put on your favorite movie. The perfect proposal will, of course, need the perfect ring so have a look at http://yourdiamondguru.com/reviews/james-allen/ for an excellent review on diamond rings.

However, you choose to do it, make sure it speaks to your relationship and triggers some fond memories of the early days.

Another way to take them by surprise with your sudden and life-changing question is to use what they love as a way to propose. It’s a bit less dramatic than showing up at their commute or the office with an orchestra in case this is a bit too much for your taste.

Christmas and Halloween are coming up, so why not use the holiday he or she loves to make it extra creative? Put the question in the book they’re currently reading if your SO is a bit of a bookworm, write it in the snow outside if you know they’ve been anticipating the first signs of white forever, or turn it into a scavenger hunt if they love puzzles and exploring.
