When we shop there are times when you just grab things because it looks good, it looks pretty or just because you feel like you have to have them. News flash! You don’t have to have it. In fact, 10 out of 10 times you really don’t need it. So how to stop impulsive shopping especially online you can unsubscribe to your favourite stores so that you lose the temptation that pops up in your email.

When you are going to the store try using lists and sticking to them. Also, eat before you go shopping to prevent you from hungry shopping which always results in grabbing food you don’t need at the time.

Having a cash diet tends to work especially since you can see what you have compared to relying on just tap and cards. Making sticking to a budget helps since you can see what you have right there in front of you and also makes you more aware of what you’re spending. It is ever so easy to not worry about what you are spending simply because you are tapping your card on the machine or inserting your card.

We see what we are spending however after that it lies in our bank statements and is completely forgotten in our minds. With cash, you see what you spending and how much it is left. It keeps your mind in check about what you are spending.

Keep a tracking sheet so you can go through all your spending habits. There are many apps on your phone or computer that help you stay on the right path to spending less and staying on budget. Many like to go the traditional route and have a budget book or physical sheet of paper. It is much easier for them to have a written log of expenses compared to remembering to check it on the internet.

Saving Hacks

When you go to the store, it is literally eye candy for us but there are ways to save money. Brand everything doesn’t have to be a thing. In fact, when it comes to food there is not much of a difference in the taste… at least most of the time. Going name brand instead of big-brand items does indeed save you money because the store wants you to buy their brand and as a reward, you get to save. Another way to save money is to buy things when they are on sale or to use coupons.

Another saving hack is online subscriptions to stores. I was just introduced to Harry’s and their shave subscription service. Harry’s will deliver quality razor blades right to your door. Not only is this convenient, but the razors are also half the price of their competitors that you find in the stores!
