Unexpected Wedding Food Ideas Your Guests Will Love

Wedding preparations are hectic, intense and put so much pressure on our shoulders. Everything from the guest list to the floral arrangements needs to be planned long ahead of time, and you want everything to simply be perfect. But there’s no such thing as simply perfect, and throwing a memorable wedding takes a lot of hard work. One of the things that need to be on the list is, of course, the food. And since that can often be the centerpiece of the occasion, you probably want to really make it count, so here are some ideas to get your cogs turning:

Unique presentation

One of the easiest ways to grab people’s attention is to wow them with your presentation. Put a salad on a serving platter and you will just have a salad, but rearrange it a bit and you can have salad cups, with all the ingredients contained in a lettuce cup, a salad wrap or a salad taco. Making things bite-sized, like serving a flavorful combination in a spoon, will allow your guests to try many different flavors and textures, without being too full. If arranged properly, it can also be quite a show-stopper. Think small and compact with lots of flavor in every bite. You can also choose over-the-top presentation – just make sure that the decor doesn’t make the food impossible to eat with a shred of elegance and finesse.

Make it exotic

A wedding is a chance for people to try something new and interesting, that they don’t usually have a chance to try. If you’re not planning to prepare the food by yourself – and let’s face it, who has time for that? –look into catering service that can really make an impact: present an ice raw bar with fish and seafood so fresh, your guests will feel like they’re in the middle of the ocean. Make it fun and memorable – because we’ve all had sliders and pizza too many times before. You can have all of your food-themed or you can make a variety – just try and make sure there is something for everyone to enjoy.

Themed food

If your wedding is following a theme, you can make your food match in the best way possible. For example, a carnival theme can serve cotton candy and popcorn, while a vintage vibe can be matched with some tea-party snacks. If your theme is futuristic, you can serve dishes on top of dry ice, or use actual science in the preparation of the food (like making fizzy fruit or maybe even edible slime) for an other-worldly experience. You can even make your cake a novelty cake that will fit in with your chosen theme, either in its look, taste or both!

Share platters

Weddings are a chance for people to come together and share in the good times – but also share the food! The great trend of large platters meant for sharing, instead of individual plates is taking the wedding industry to a whole new level. Not only does it make a close and intimate atmosphere, but it can also serve as a great conversation starter, especially for people sitting at the same table who don’t know each other that well. You can go with anything from DIY tacos to fondue, depending on how classy you want the venue to be.

Don’t forget to include the drinks in the whole conversation, because no table will be complete without the proper drinks for a toast – and a party. You can keep it as tame as you’d like, but if you want to make a wedding that people are going to remember, you’re gonna have to think outside of the box. You can always look online for inspiration, ask the pros or simply ask your guests what they would like to see and taste on the big day! Make sure that the food is both beautiful to look at and tastes great, to give your guests the full experience!

  1. […] Didn’t you mom ever tell you not to play with your food? Well, you don’t have to listen anymore with this new trend. You can play, design and now use food in any way you want for your wedding. From using food as escort cards to having your reception food displayed in a completely over-the-top kind of way. Food Stylists are now making their way to the must-haves list. If that isn’t your thing, then maybe you will like the food truck trend that has been rolling in. I for one can guarantee that food trucks are not your average hot dog anymore. Related: Unexpected Wedding Food Ideas Your Guests Will Love […]
