7 Tools You Need in Your House

7 Tools You Need in Your House - City of Creative Dreams

One of the greatest downsides of the modern age is the fact that we have come to rely too much on the services provided by others. You see, when you face a power outage, there is nothing easier than calling a commercial electrician. Same goes for a plumber. All you need to do in this situation is google a number, call it and pay afterwards. It doesn’t get any simpler or less time-consuming and in the meanwhile, you go about your business.

On the other hand, you won’t always have the luxury of calling someone else to come to your aid. Sometimes, you will need to fix the situation yourself (at least temporary). To help you prepare for that moment, here are seven tools you will want to have by your side.

1. Screwdriver Set
Calling a handyman for a couple of loose screws is not only a waste of money but of your time as well. You see, by the time you make the phone call, you could have probably already tightened them yourself. All you need is a simple screwdriver set. The thing you need to know about screwdrivers is that there are many different types out there. Still, the most common ones are Phillips (the one that looks like a plus) and slot head (the one that looks like a minus). All in all, you need few of them in different sizes and you are all covered for most situations.

2. Tape Measure
Now, tape measurer is quite self-explanatory, still it has some great features that people often fail to consider. It seldom costs more than a few dollars and it easily fits inside of your pocket. Furthermore, seeing how most of them show measures in both inches and centimeters it is something you can carry with you even if you decide to move to a different continent. Definitely a smart investment.

3. Hammer
They say that when all you have is a hammer everything looks like a nail. Witty as this saying goes, it is quite far from the truth. In fact, a claw-hammer is a multi-purpose tool, which can be used for many different tasks. Apart from its standard use, the claw part can also be used to remove nails. In a case of need, it can also turn into a demolition tool or a highly efficient self-defense weapon. Finally, seeing how most claw-hammers come in the standardized size you can also use it as a measurement tool.

4. Bathroom Plunger
Speaking about household tools, this one is probably the simplest one to use. We are talking about a simple wooden handle with a rubber piece which are used to de-clog your toilet. One thing to remember though is that this tool is the most efficient when compressing water rather than air. This tip alone can make your job much easier.

5. Lawn Mower
Not all of these tools are something you use when things break. Some of them are simply necessary for regular home maintenance, and a lawn mower is a perfect example of how this works. Now, experts at Sydney power tools company, claim that the quality of your mower has a direct impact on how much you enjoy this chore. Such a notion is not to be taken lightly since it is in direct correlation with the neatness of your home’s exterior. Luckily, even the high-end ones aren’t that expensive.

6. Flashlight
No matter how well equipped or trained you are, if you can’t see, all your other tools will be rendered useless. Because of this, it is vital that your household has a flashlight. Even if you intend to call someone to fix your power outage, this would be difficult to achieve if you cannot find your phone. Furthermore, make sure that you always have a set of backup batteries at hand.

7. Utility Knife
Another thing you need in your household is a utility knife. You can do it for a wide variety of tasks like opening boxes, cutting duct tape and similar tasks. A great recommendation here would be to get a Swiss army knife, which you can use for even more mundane tasks like opening a wine bottle or clipping your nails. All in all, a handy thing to have.

Conclusion
All of these tools take little to no room to store and require virtually no maintenance. Furthermore, they are something you will probably have to buy once in your lifetime and then pass them. Sure, having them doesn’t mean you will be able to fix or upkeep your entire household on your own, but it does give you a chance to fix some minor problems.

LIVE LOVE LIFE LATELY

LIVE LOVE LIFE LATELY - City of Creative Dreams

Snow comes down and then vanish from the rain. So I thought I could capture it when I can since this winter must have the record for lack of snow. I wont lie, I am a lover of rain but I am also a girl who really wants snow to stick a little longer than a day so that I can bring my little man outside to build a snowman. I don't ask for much. Anyways, here is some pictures from last week when we got some snow. It was a nice day!

5 Best Cheer Up Gifts For Stressed Friends

5 Best Cheer Up Gifts For Stressed Friends | City of Creative Dreams

We all have been there, work feels draggy, kids are driving you to the madhouse, bills are piling up and you start feeling like you are in an endless twister of things circling around you. Some rush to the big bottle of wine when the kids are sleeping, some binge watch television shows on the weekend and some have friends over for a girls day. We all do not have that luxury, however, when I can see that one of my friends are down in the dumps I can't help but put a little something together to brighten up their day, regardless of what is going on in my life. I\ve always see the benefit of giving more than receiving. It brings me joy just as much as it brings joy to them.

My friend is a superwoman with her kids and has so many things being thrown at her at all times that is why I decide that I wanted to put together a cheer up box full of gifts.

It all starts with a box. It doesn't have to be too fussy but something that represents your friend. It is all about presentation. This is the first thing your friend will be seeing.

Add a feel good memo. I love a quote or something that I can read that brings me up.

A Mug: As much as I like a mug. I personally only have a limited amount however who doesn't love receiving a mug. They get to pour their coffee or tea inside and then relax. Just sit back and imagine life's problems.

A little sparkle, a little warm and a little fizz. I wanted to give a little sparkle because a little bling can make anyone feel special. You can take it out on bad days and wear it as a reminder of all the good they have in their life. A little warm with a favorite tea or coffee or even recommend one your favorites. The one we have is a calm tea by President's Choice. Fizzy vitamins for an extra boost in their bodies to tackle what life throughs at them.

Lastly, a card. You can't finish a cheer up box without a card filled with empowering words. I am a lover of words. Words can bring some much joy to people, it has its own power in what you say and how you say it. The card outside could be blank but the beauty inside makes it a masterpiece.

Top it off with a ribbon!

Delivery with a smile! A gift doesn't have to be on a certain day to make is special, it just needs to be meant from the heart. Those are my five best cheer up gifts for stressed friends. Of course, the point is to mix things up and make it completely your own. It is your friend, you know your friend better than anyone! Have fun creating!

How to Make A Fun Pom Pom Snowman

How to Make A Fun Pom Pom Snowman - City of Creative Dreams

Winter over here has been mostly cold than snow. Not much on the ground other than frozen grass ground. We occasionally get a dump of snow but before we know it, rain will come and wash it away. I have been drinking more hot chocolate than tobogganing. However, there is not much I can do about it, I mean I know my little man would love to be building a snowman but since there is a lack of snow going around, I figure that I would bring the snow inside over the winter break.

I found this Creatology Pom Pom Kit at Michaels Craft Store for $7.99. Believe me, I was a little shocked to know that this kit did not have anything that picture on the covers says except for the pom poms. It costs a lot for just four pom poms in four different sizes but I bought it with a 50% coupon so that I could feel better about the price.

I also bought these wooden snowflakes cost $2.99 each.

Who says all snowflakes have to be white? I used the Decor Art Metallics (Champagne Gold and Shimmering Silver).

Once the paint dries, it is glue time. I am using Elmer's Xtreme Glue.

Next, add the largest pom pom to the snowflake. The snowflake is going to act as a base for the snowman.

Once I repeated the same steps, each time adding a smaller pom pom with glue, it ends up looking just like this.

Of course, a snowman is never complete without its accessories. Two carrot noses for $4.99 with a little glue to keep it in place.

Next, I decided to use buttons for the eyes. I did not have black ones but white ones were just as great.

He is the many ways you can make it your own by using a black marker to create buttons, red rope to be used a scarf and finding a very mini hat. The ideas are endless. My little man and  I had so much fun creating our snowmen and painting the snowflake base. It is not every day that we see a snowman flying a snowflake but it is sure very cute to see.
