Having a busy mom schedule is an understatement. Do you feel like you are spending every minute picking up after your kids? I feel you! Do you feel like you haven’t found your groove when it comes to cleaning? Learning how to clean your household like a mom boss is just what we all need. Being organized doesn’t only have to be organizing physical items or spaces in your home. It also includes having a routine.
I personally live in an apartment with my younger 3 teenage siblings, my son and my mom. So, keeping our apartment clean is necessary. It can be hard being a mom with all the things we have to do daily, but let’s think weekly for a minute, so we don’t miss anything. Let’s dive into what we need to do for our weekly cleaning routine.

Living Room Mom Boss Cleaning
Start with your floors! You must clean your floors, or walking barefoot would be unpleasant. Say goodbye to sticky floors due to spilled juice and snack crumbs, grab yourself a broom,
robot vacuum or vacuum cleaner to help keep your floors clean. Personally, I love having a small handheld vacuum for those quick crumb cleans and using the large vacuum for all the floor cleaning. Depending on your child’s age, you can let them help you vacuum up crumbs.
Next, you should dust and wipe down hard surfaces. Dust is one thing that collects frequently, so make sure you wipe down coffee tables, desks, bookshelves, and window ledges. Let’s brighten your home by cleaning your windows so you can let in as much sunlight as possible.

Kitchen Mom Boss Cleaning
Your kitchen floors and surfaces are a must! Keep your floors clean to prevent unwanted bugs and pests from entering your space. Wipe down your counters and appliances daily to remove germs and mess. You want a clean, inspiring place to cook in, without feeling overwhelmed by mess when you walk into your kitchen. The perfect time to do this is after you have washed the dishes for the night and have wiped down the kitchen sink.
Another thing to stay on top of in a busy kitchen is your sink and drains, because
the experience of a blocked kitchen sink can certainly be frustrating when you’re trying to get meals made or clean up at the end of the day. Make it a habit to rinse food scraps into the bin, run hot water after washing dishes, and give the drain a gentle clean now and then to keep things flowing smoothly. A clear sink makes your whole kitchen routine feel more manageable and less stressful, helping you stay in that calm, Mom Boss mindset without unnecessary interruptions.
Get into the habit of cleaning the inside of your microwave and fridge. For my home, we use this
Magnolora Angry Mama Disinfectant Non-Toxic Steam Cleaner to assist with our microwave cleaning. It helps us out a ton, especially with all the spills and splatters inside. Also, aim to take out items in your fridge that are no longer good to remove potential bad smells. I know you can do it!
Bedroom Mom Boss Cleaning
Wash or swap your bed sheets every week if possible, or at least every two weeks. Since we don’t see the germs unless we sweat or our child wets the bed, we may overlook this essential cleaning. Let’s save you and your kids from sleeping in their own sweat, body oils and dirt each week and simply change your sheets. You are going to sleep so much better in clean sheets.
You need to do the floors and hard surfaces in your bedroom as well. Pull out your brooms and vacuums for every inch of your floor space. Dust builds up everywhere, so dust your dressers, bedside tables, lamps and ceiling fans, my friend!

Bathroom Mom Boss Cleaning
Your towels and bathmats should be washed once a week. These items are secretly very dirty, and I am not just saying that to scare you. It is known that your towels help dry your hands and body, but they also collect leftover dirt. Yes, bacteria love your towels and bathmats. If you are too busy to do this weekly, no fear, make sure that you have extra towels and bathmats to use weekly and throw them in the wash all together every two weeks or so.
Give your floors a good mop weekly, and don’t forget to clean the mirror as well. Just think about all the times you and your little ones have touched the mirror, leaving fingerprints, splashed water on it, or somehow gotten toothpaste on it.
Deep-clean your sink, tub, and toilet with your preferred cleaning product. You are going to want to get rid of any stains or water rings that collect. That also means you need to tackle the seat, lid and handle areas so that you don’t miss any spots.
Final Thoughts
This weekly cleaning schedule sure seems like a lot; however, with kids, we need to clean our homes constantly anyway. By taking the time to consider these essential parts of our household that I mentioned, we are the ultimate mom boss. Create the best cleaning routine that works for your family, whether that means swapping out towels weekly and tossing them in the hamper to be cleaned later, or using a tool like a robot vacuum cleaner. You are doing great, boss mom!
