Everyone keeps talking about becoming that girl habits and ways to create a better version of yourself that you wish you could be, but most days, like you, I don’t always feel like that girl. It is much easier to think about waking up before the kids, sipping on a freshly made smoothie while journaling, getting steps in before noon or enjoying time for meditation, and still having the energy to tackle a cluttered kitchen before anyone else wakes up.
Yeah, you know…that girl.
I am focused on the girl who is not perfect, but consistent. She knows her priorities and limits and does her best with the circumstances she is in, all while not crumbling under pressure (most of the time).
And let me tell you something—that girl is YOU. And today, I’m giving you the only checklist you’ll ever need (aka true that girl habits) to fully step into her.
I created this list for the overwhelmed mom, the multitasking business owner, and the late-night Googler wondering, “How do I get my life together?” This is for the woman who craves routines that bring calm, a home that feels good to walk into, and a daily rhythm that doesn’t make her feel like she’s drowning in everyone else’s needs.
Sounds like you? Let’s get to it with that girl habits you will love!
Morning Mindset Must-Haves

1. Wake up before the Chaos
2. Hydrate with Intention
3. Move your Body
In many of our jobs and throughout our day, we are sitting down. So, make sure that you do a quick stretch by your bed or while brushing your teeth. If you have time, consider taking a walk around the block or to the bus stop. Lastly, you can always take some time to dance in the kitchen while putting your lunch in your bag or getting the kids ready. Movement truly shifts the mindset.
4. Write it Out
Gratitude. Goals. Intentions. Get it out of your head and onto paper. If you want something more visual, make yourself a physical vision board to put on your wall or a digital vision board that you put on your computer desktop background or phone wallpaper. (Digital ones are my favourite, see how I made mine here)
Your Home, Your Sanctuary

5. Make your Bed
6. Tidy One Hotspot
7. Open the Windows
8. Light a Candle or Diffuse Oils
Mindful Meals, Not Just Quick Fixes

9. Prep Simple Go-to Meals
Helping your future self includes your daily meals or drinks, too. Sometimes our energy level is gone, so we avoid basic needs or struggle with a lack of time. Preparing smoothie bags, overnight oats, or pre-chopped veggies can make the guesswork go away. Plus, your effort to grab good choices is easier.
10. Eat with Intention
When you take the time to eat, you should be doing so without distractions, which means no working. This time is for you! Try not to eat standing up or while multitasking. The goal is to give your food—and yourself—attention.
11. Hydrate Throughout the Day
We hear all the time that you need to keep hydrated, but it can be hard to remember when you’re busy. Therefore, keep your water bottle nearby on your desk, in your car, or in your purse. Find ways to make it taste good, like adding fruit if it helps you drink more.
Digital Peace

12. Declutter Your Digital Life
Take 5 to 15 minutes to unsubscribe from emails you don’t read or delete emails you don’t need. Any help towards decluttering your digital life will help you in the long run. Also, turn off notifications that stress you out.
13. Curate Your Feed
Your free time scrolling shouldn’t be stressing you out. Follow social media accounts that inspire peace, progress, and positivity. Mute or unfollow the rest that don’t align with what you want to be inspired by. That includes friends and family accounts. If they are stirring up negative feelings, feel free to mute.
14. Create a Digital To-do System
I am obsessed with Asana when it comes to my digital to-do system. It helps me keep track of all that I need to get done, so I don’t need to hold everything in my head. Of course, there is Trello, Notion, or a good old Notes app as well. Choose one and see if it’s a good fit. Once you find the right match, stick to it.
Relationships That Lift You

15. Send a Check-in Message
16. Schedule Guilt-free Alone Time
17. Set Boundaries that Honour You
Style That Supports You

18. Choose your Uniform
Feel good in what you are wearing, whether it’s leggings and a cute hoodie or a sundress with sneakers. You know the fabrics, styles and outfits in your closet that are your go-tos. Lean into that, pick an outfit formula that makes getting dressed easy and fun.
19. Declutter your Closet Regularly or Seasonally
If it doesn’t fit your lifestyle (or your body), it’s not serving you. Declutter the outfits that no longer represent you today, that are itchy or simply no longer fit. You can do this seasonally or at the start of a new year; however, make your life ten times easier by decluttering regularly. Have a designated spot in your home or closet where you can put clothes that you are no longer loving. Once full, drop it off at your donation store.
20. Add One Confidence Piece
There is a confidence piece of outfit that everyone has, whether it’s a bold lipstick or a structured blazer. Choose that one thing that makes you feel instantly elevated. Mine is this blue blazer jacket or a black leather jacket that I absolutely love.
Evening Reset for a Fresh Tomorrow

21. Tidy your Main Zone
To reset for the next day, it is always good to start with clearing the kitchen counters, making sure that the dishes are done, and that the toys are corralled. I know that this may sound like extra things to do, but it will help the future you in the morning.
22. Prep your Morning
Sometimes our time in the morning can be stolen because we just don’t know what to wear. Therefore, lay out your clothes the night before. It saves you from the struggle of finding something to wear. Also, review your calendar so that you know what is going on the next day. It will keep your mind prepared for upcoming events. Lastly, plan breakfast. Sometimes we can be so busy rushing around that we forget about breakfast, but planning in advance will help you in the morning.
23. Reflect and Release
After a long day, it is nice to take a moment to reflect on the day. What went well today? What could have gone better? Take a moment to journal if that is your thing, or meditate before bed. Prayer is another way to reflect on the day and to pour out your anxieties. Whatever helps you put the day to rest, choose it.
24. Power Down Screens Early
Lost in the scroll? We all have been there, but could you swap the scroll for a book or silence? Our minds are constantly being advertised to, and these days, we don’t give our minds enough time for silence. Therefore, give your brain a breather. Your brain will thank you!
25. Sleep like it Matters
Your sleep matters! Protect your bedtime like your peace depends on it—because it does. Make sure that you are getting enough hours of sleep so that you have enough energy for the day. Ensure that your bed is comfortable, and get the right bed sheets to match your body temperature and texture preference. Lastly, if you are unable to stay asleep, look for items that could help, like a sound machine, having the fan turned on or melatonin supplements.
The Only ‘That Girl’ Checklist You’ll Ever Need to Feel Put Together

Final Thoughts
I hope that these 25 that girl habits have inspired you! The secret isn’t in the checklist—it’s in doing one thing at a time, over and over, with love and intention. Please remember that you don’t need to do all 25 every day. Honestly, you shouldn’t since that can be a lot of pressure, and no one is perfect at this. However, I would recommend that you start with three or one. Then add more as it makes sense for your life.
You’re just one small shift away from feeling like that girl again. And I’m right here cheering you on.
