6 Ways to Be More Organized without Spending Money

Do you want to be more organized without spending money? I answered that question recently and I wanted to share my answer with you just in case you were wondering the same thing. Friend, if you are in this position where you want to be organized but you don’t have a lot of money to buy organizing supplies then I want you to know that it is possible. In fact, some things you have right at home can do wonders for organizing. Here are a few ideas. Let’s dive in!

1. Boxes

Step away from the Amazon boxes because you can reuse them. If you have some nice wrapping papers, fabric or craft paper you can use a box and cut it into any size you need to store items in, create separation in your drawers or even create drawers dividers. Here are some awesome projects to give you the extra inspiration boost:

2. Tupperware

Remember when you could not find the lid to that one or two containers? Do not throw it away. The best thing when you cannot find the lid for your Tupperware, you can use it for other things such as deeper drawer separators. You can store smaller items in them, so they are in one spot and not sliding everywhere in your drawers. Just look at the list of ideas below at A Clean Bee!

3. Glassless Picture Frames

Just because the glass is broken does not mean you cannot use the frame. Get your inner crafter out because you can use thumbtacks and create yourself a necklace holder or use some string and create yourself a sunglasses holder. I once used one to create my younger sister a holder for her scissors, but you can use it for your house keys as well. Check out this project here.

4. Old Mugs/Glasses

They do not have to be solely used for drinking. Before you donate a mug or glasses, I want to let you know that they work great for home decoration and yes you guessed it, organizing. You can use them for pencil/pen holders, toothbrush holders or makeup brush holders. If you want to take it a step further, you can make mini flower arrangements for your desk.

5. Small Spare Doorknobs

Sometimes when we buy a pack of doorknobs for cabinets or projects, we can have extra ones laying around. Instead of allowing it to collect dust or even donating them, use them by drilling it into a wall and use them as a holder for shoes or purses. I did this idea for my entry closet but bought my cabinet doorknobs from my local dollar store and it is one of the most popular projects I have ever done.

6. File Folding Clothes

Lastly, another way to be more organized without spending money is file folding. You do not really need anything for this, all you have to do is fold your clothes differently. File folding gives you a more visually appealing look to your dresser drawers and makes your clothing look more organized.

Take it one step further by creating those drawer dividers I was telling you about. You can create a drawer divider using just the flaps of a box. Need help with folding? Check out these videos:
