Art always brings a bedroom addition pops to a room. I love that having art around with pops of colours or patterns and designs. My personal favourites are inspirational words in a frame. Nothing makes your guests feel better waking up in someone else’s home then some inspiration reminding them that they are special.
If you want to take art in a whole new way, then feature walls are the way to go. The one wall behind the bed where you don’t have to settle for a plain colour or a simple white wall. Think about having wallpaper with a bold print. Now I am the most simple colour kind of person but lately, I have even been loving the whole art on wall aspect.
One of the common problems about staying at someone’s home for a while is the storage. Most don’t think about putting too much into a guest room since they are not there for a while, however, think about it as a hotel. Provide setting, drawers and storage options for your guest to unwind naturally. Allow them to put things away and get comfortable.
If you are creating a guest bedroom with more than one bed then you need to make sure that the bedroom still reflects the hotel feeling. In order to do this, try to have the beds be the same make and model. If you cannot, then have identical headboards. Same bedding is a must to tie the entire room together. Your guest will love the warming feeling when they walk inside.
