Organizing Your Life Essential – A Planner!

If you have not guessed, it is a planner! This brings me to my question to you, how do you get the most out of your planner? You can have the most fantastic, or even most expensive planner you happen to find while scrolling on Instagram but it not worth getting one if you are not using it.

Personally, I stopped using a physical planner. Wait hold up, you might be thinking, why am I telling you about getting a planner when I don’t use one. Before you give me judgement eyes, I want to be clear that I love planners but personally don’t need one at this stage of my life. I have switched to digital calendars so it can sync to my computer calendar and phone.

So, I have all love for planners which is why I am telling you that if you like writing down your life on paper, go for it! Here are some tips to make sure you are getting the most out of your planner:

  • Use Your Planner Every Day

Write down your weekly to-do lists, day-to-day calendar appointments or your school schedule and goals.

  • Set Up Your Planner Before You Begin Writing

Make sure that you are categorizing the tasks that you want to focus on then put it into action with a priorities list.

  • Colour Code

A fun fact is that the colour green = long-term concentration and blue = increased positivity. Give your planner a colour code system that will help you from forgetfulness.

  • Use Separate Planners for Work and Personal

If possible, try to keep things separate to reduce cluttering up your planner, or use the colour code system to divide personal and work.

  • Make Time for Reflection

It is good to take a moment to reflect on your day and see what you have accomplished for the day. Also, celebrate your successes!

Master Planning the Week Ahead of Time

How To Organize Your Life This Year: Best Plans, Stationery & Way More

I live by planning my week ahead of time, even if that means in bite-size tasks. Either way, I am making sure that my week is filled with priority items. Here is a little behind the scenes on my week, I like to do all my blog week planning on the weekends so that my week is free for other things. But also, I feel so much more productive when my main blog things are scheduled for me and my mom life duties are prepped ahead of time.

There are ways to plan your week ahead of time which I am shown in a previous article but here is a quick summary of how you can do this too:

– Write You’re Most Important

You need to start with putting down your most important tasks onto a calendar first. By starting with your most important tasks first, you are making those a priority and remember the fact that it is not negotiable. Yes, the things that need to get done. It is always best to add some self-care to your schedule too.

– Plan Your Top Tasks

Once you have all of the most important tasks in your calendar, now you can see the space you have to add in your top tasks that need to get done for the week. Don’t stress, this task doesn’t have to be something that takes the longest or is the hardest to do. Remember that you want ones that you need to get done to push forward yourself for the next week.

– Add in Everything Else

Now that you have added in the most important and your top tasks for the week, you can add in everything else. Maybe there are some small tasks that you would like to get done this week if there is enough time, you can add them to the spaces that are free but do not put too many things.

– Review Your Calendar

Take a step back and really look at your calendar. Review and ask yourself if this is achievable for you? Does looking at your calendar make you feel at ease or completely stressed out? If you are feeling too overwhelmed with your calendar, then you should really see if some tasks can be moved to the following week instead.

– Handling your Calendar

Aim to work from your calendar only. It is so easy to look at your to-do list but remembers you designed your calendar for a reason. You added only what you needed and can do during this time. One of my favourite tips is to put all the annoying tasks for Mondays so that you the rest of the week to work on things you enjoy.

Decluttering Habits That Will Inspire Happiness in your Life

How To Organize Your Life This Year: Best Plans, Stationery & Way More

I wouldn’t be me if I didn’t talk about decluttering because as you enter a new year or jumping in 5 months into the year, decluttering has got to happen one way or another. I thought of three actionable decluttering habits that will inspire happiness in your life and believe this would help you organize your life this year. Here is a quick summary of what you got to do:

  1. Choose one room/space

It can be so overwhelming to declutter your entire home in one day. It is even worse to not have a plan of where to start. So, my advice is that you should do it choose one room or one space. It doesn’t have to be a big project but a bite-size project. It sets you up with one focus and less stress of thinking about your entire home.

  2. Know when to Let Go

Being emotionally connected to our belongings has pros and cons. The pro is that it brings you a special memory, but the con is that it can be hard to know when to let it go. This brings me to my favourite tip, focus on the quick no and yes items to get those out of the way. Those are the ones you don’t have to think about and just know that you can donate or keep without a doubt in your mind. Then clap it up for yourself! Target the harder ones for later.

  3. Focus on Solutions

I encourage you to focus on solutions for your home that match your family’s needs. Look at your daily routine and adjust your belongings and household to match it. Have frequently used items front and centre for easy access.
