Millennials get blamed for ruining everything these days—they aren’t buying houses or diamonds or dinners at fancy restaurants, and all they want to eat is avocado toast—but according to the top millennial wedding trends, this generation is unquestionably improving the wedding industry. The more traditional ceremonies might still be the dream for some, but millennials have not been afraid of adding and experimenting with their own flair. Vivid colors, creative ideas, and personalized touches are among the most significant improvements. Here are some of the top five most notable millennial wedding trends that will help you stay in the know!

One-of-a-Kind Wedding Bands

So much thought goes into choosing the engagement ring that some couples forget about the actual wedding rings! That’s not the case with millennial couples, however. They recognize that the wedding rings are even more meaningful, so they usually prefer custom wedding bands. Other trends for millennial couples include selecting wedding rings that complement the engagement rings and choosing matching rings. All these different ways of complementing rings and matching each other can be hard to keep up with, but that’s not slowing this millennial trend.

Favors for the Fam

Deciding on the wedding favors is always fun. Every couple wants their guests totake home a memento that reminds them of the joyous occasion. Understandably, however, millennial couples want to breathe new life into this tried-and-true tradition. The takeout boxes filled with candy are cute, but they’re not as popular as they once were.

Today’s nearly-newlyweds typically consider two questions when choosing personalized wedding favors: is it memorable, and is it practical? Corkscrews and wine stoppers are in the middle of a particularly hot moment (this is a generation known for its love of rosé, after all). Eco-friendly water bottles and tumblers are also current favorites, mainly because guests can use them every day.

Less-Is-More Makeup Looks

Millennial brides—and bridesmaids, by extension—aren’t opting for the all-out makeup styles of past years. Dewy, glowing, and natural aesthetics are winning the day instead. That means that brides have to begin an effectiveskincare routine well ahead of the big day so that their skin is as flawless as possible. From that point, it’s best to opt for a dusting of everything, which may include some shimmer on the cheekbones, a bit of highlighter on your cupid’s bow, lashes to die for, and a lovely but neutral lip color.

Prints over Solids

Once upon a time, bridesmaids’ dresses were all solid colors. Millennials are making other choices though. Expect to see the bridal party in eye-catching patterns.Floral print bridesmaid dresses nearly erase the need for real flowers and turn the bridal party into a garden all its own. Expect to see the guys rocking paisley ties and gingham shirts too.

Mismatched Outfits

Bear in mind that mismatched frocks are also trending among millennials. You can still incorporate floral print bridesmaid dresses, though. Pick out contrasting patterns in complementary colors. After all, no garden contains only a single flower.

The groom and groomsmen don’t have to match, either. Play around with patterned ties, vests, and handkerchiefs. Just remember that the contrast still needs to be cohesive.

More than anything, millennial weddings are all about the celebration. This is an occasion to remember, and the couples want to throw a party that they’ll never forget. The options are endless when it comes to making your millennial ceremony truly stand out.
