Are you getting a little bit stuck around what to do with your spare room that’s not in use right now? If so, then this guide is for you. We take a look at all of the ways that you might be able to leverage the space and do something that’s not so obvious with it. Let’s take a look at some less conventional and creative ideas to transform it.
Personal Meditation Retreat
One of the simplest ways to transform this space is to turn it into your personal meditation retreat. This can be a wellness practice area with the right lighting, floor mats and cushions. You could also add things like diffusion candles and machines to create even more relaxation with essential oils. It’s essentially up to you what you do with it. This way, you can achieve the same level of mindfulness that you’d get in a temple, but in the privacy of your own home.
Home Library
If you’re
somebody who loves reading, then you might also want to explore the idea of transforming the space into a home library. Adding things like comfy chairs and plenty of bookshelves allows you to maintain your collection while exploring the world of ideas in book form. It’s also a good way to get you off your device if you’re somebody who’s addicted to their phone and scrolling in bed. Makes you feel like you’re back in the 1980s and 1990s when computer electronics weren’t everywhere.
Home Theatre
You could also look at transforming your unused room into a home theater. This is a great option for anybody who’s a film buff or just loves watching movies in a high-quality environment. Just make sure that you install
home theatre speakers and a large projector screen. These days, this audio-visual equipment is relatively accessible and doesn’t require spending thousands of dollars. You just need to know the right brands and suppliers.
Dedicated Home Gym
Another option is to install a dedicated home gym. Once you have one of these, you can skip a gym membership and save a lot of money and time in the long term. You’re not constantly going back and forth to the gym, which is a time-consuming endeavour.
All you need to do is put down some impact-resistant rubber flooring. Then, all you need is:
- Some weights
- Some mats
- A treadmill
- Perhaps a multi-gym
Then you can go to the gym whenever you want, which is convenient.
Indoor Plant Nursery
Finally, if you’re really thinking outside of the box, you might want to
transform your spare room into an indoor plant nursery. These act a bit like mini greenhouses but bring lots of fresh air and outdoor energy into your space. They’re particularly important if you live in an apartment building which is a long way from any green areas. You can essentially turn your private spaces into a sort of park where you can enjoy an urban jungle of sorts.
Just make sure you choose plants which are suitable for indoor living. They’ll still require sunlight and watering, but they should remain green throughout the year and will perhaps even flower.
