Creative Tips and Trick for Freshening up your Backyard

Creative Tips and Trick for Freshening up your Backyard | City of Creative Dreams

Every backyard should look fabulous since it is a perfect place to spend your leisure time. Whether playing with kids, relaxing or spending pleasant evenings in a good company, when the weather is fine, your backyard becomes your outdoor oasis. To make those joyful moments even better, make some changes and freshen up your backyard to make it more pleasant and comfortable. Fortunately, the backyard makeover doesn’t have to cost a fortune. Few good tips and a little bit of creativity can make a big difference, so use your backyard as a playground for your ideas.

Flowers

If you already don’t have any colorful flowers in your backyard, then it is a perfect time to start planting. Think about how you want your backyard to look like and plant few flower corners. Or you can have raised bed garden to encircle the backyard. Also, make use of hanging baskets to create the impression of colors floating in the air. If all of this sounds like too much trouble, you can always place few flower pots in a group. Make interesting flower pots by repurposing old tires or baskets.

Hang a hammock

A hammock is an iconic item that calls for relaxation, daydreaming and happy time. Any decent backyard should have one since nothing beats a slow swinging in a hammock at the end of a busy day. Easy to install and to remove at the end of the season, a quality hammock will serve you for many years, swinging you back and forth between fond memories and thoughts of a bright future that awaits.

Furnish the deck or patio

Comfortable seating and table is an inevitable part of any fabulous backyard. Look for garden furniture that is functional and comfy, yet suitable for socializing and resting. Make it works both ways, whether you plan to have an outdoor meal with a family or you simply wish to create a lounge area. There is a variety of garden furniture on the market, but keep in mind that you can easily turn this into a DIY project. Few palettes, some cushions and voila.

Make a daybed

If a hammock is not your thing, and it is more likely to relax in a more stable restful spot then consider making a daybed. Depending on the size of your backyard, you can place it in a spot a bit farther from the high-traffic area to ensure some quiet time. Make sure to use waterproof fabrics for the cushions, and create a cozy and soft bed where you’ll get to nap, read or simply lay down and watch the sky.

Cover seating area

Warm weather is lovely but being outdoors on a direct sun can be quite harmful. To protect from UV rays or even summer rain for that matter, consider building a pergola. On the top of the pergola attach a waterproof fabric and continue spending time outdoors. There is a growing demand for retractable roof systems in Sydney by many homeowners so you may want to think about this kind of investment. Not only it will protect you from the elements, but it will significantly increase the value of your home.

Consider fire pit

Covering the patio will help against sun and the rain, but the beginning of autumn can bring some cold days and chilly evenings. No need to move back in the house just yet, since a simple fire pit can keep you warm for at least couple of weeks. Again, there is plenty to choose from on the internet, but the fire pit can also be a DIY project. Needless to mention, a DIY fire pit is a fun project for the whole family, while it is a money saving option.

Be creative with lighting

Make sure that the real magic in your backyard begins at night. Hang lanterns and string lights to create a warm glow and pleasant atmosphere. Use fairy lights to wrap the trees or bushes. Also, get a light rope and create a luminous pathway through your magical backyard. Chinese lanterns are a great choice for lighting since they can lighten up space in a lovely way, yet they are fairly cheap. Paint some of your flower pots with a glow in the dark paint and place them strategically in your backyard.

Final words

The advantages of having a backyard are numerous. Not only do you get to spend time outdoors, but the mere process of sprucing it up is bonus itself. Nothing freshens up the spirit as much as being creative, and in the end, you get to spend time in a lovely setting. Every spring gives you an opportunity to be creative and add new life to your backyard, so use these tips to make the best of it.
