Thinking about having an eco-friendly wedding? Have you considered your eco-friendly catering options? There are ways you can incorporate being green into your wedding. I talked a ton about finding an eco-friendly dress, venue, and flowers but this time I wanted to take a moment to talk about having an eco-friendly catering option for your wedding. It is all about stopping and thinking before you go all into a popular catering option. Those are great, don’t get me wrong but you can also get both. In this case, you can have your cake and eat it too. Let me give you some options.

Locally Sourced

The farm to table option is all about the healthy quality. When finding a cater you want to have the healthiest food sitting on your plate. By choosing farm fresh food you are helping local farmers and giving your guest a fresh natural meal. So fresh that it went from dirt to kitchen. It wasn’t sitting around collecting flies and sitting in a store all day waiting. It was handpicked and all ready for your special meal. Consider having locally-sourced ingredients such as eggs or dairy products to use for your wedding cake.

Organic Food

To some, organic can mean money signs. Some people believe it is all about another way of making money and that there is no difference in the food. But there is. Organic food means your food doesn’t carry man-made fertilizers or pesticides, growth regulator, and or livestock feed additives. Which means you don’t have harmful chemicals in your food.

In Season

Another way to save money and have an eco-friendly catering is to choose things that are in season. Not only do you not have to use as much transportation to get or ship food in for your special day. You are working with the food that is in the season, therefore, it won’t cost an arm and a leg extra. May is a great time to have rhubarb and asparagus. June food season is strawberries, rhubarb, peas, lettuce, cherries, beets, beans, and asparagus. July- October is the best food seasons you can have almost anything under the sun like tomatoes, potatoes, peppers, corn, carrots and more.
