As the seasons change, you’ll need to maintain your lawn, but don’t go overboard! The last thing you want is to destroy your yard with too much fertilizer or water and have to start over. That can be a costly mistake.

If you’re watering, feeding, weeding, and trimming your lawn weekly, it will likely stay in good condition. This is all a part of building a naturally healthy home from the outside in.

Make It a Low-Traffic Area

Another way to improve your lawn is by keeping foot traffic to a minimum. Keeping people off your lawn isn’t always feasible if you have a large family or pets, but one can dream, can’t they? So, we do the best we can with what we have.

Make Sure You Aerate

If you’ve never tried it, you may wonder what lawn aeration is and how well it works for your lawn compared to traditional cultivation. Well, aeration is the process of breaking up the ground.

There are typically two distinct types of aerators: plug and spike. The spikes dig directly into the ground to loosen the soil, whereas the plug aerators dig out plugs evenly across your lawn to loosen the ground and allow overseeding.

Many people fail to aerate their lawns annually, which is a problem because aeration allows the grass to breathe and spread. If the ground becomes too hard, it will choke out your grass. This can kill off your healthy lawn and even attract weeds and pests, so ensure you’re aerating annually.

Conclusion

If you need a few tips for making your lawn look healthier, look no further. If you follow these guidelines, you’ll enjoy a healthy lawn year after year.
